HIV & AIDS

______There is a dramatic relationship between substance use and HIV transmission. We believe that substance abuse treatment is the gateway to HIV prevention. We teach patients about the hazards of high-risk behavior, risk reduction, and emphasize the difference that informed safe behaviors can make in HIV prevention.

______We provide FREE pre-test and post-test counseling and FREE HIV testing to all patients. For patients's who test positive for HIV and are opiate dependent, we offer a free onsite support group once a week. Additional services include advocacy, case management, psychological assessments, and psychiatric and medical treatment referrals.

Founded in the early 1970's, NBCC became a private, non-profit agency in 1982. Today, NBCC is fully staffed to address the addiction issues of drugs and alcohol. Additional programs much needed in the New Millennium include providing HIV counseling, education, testing, support groups, prevention, specialized women's services and intensive outpatient counseling.

The Mission of New Brunswick Counseling Center is to provide comprehensive, evidence based, individualized, substance abuse treatment services. These services are provided for the prevention, reduction, and the elimination of the negative biopsychosocial consequences (Biological, Psychological, Social) associated with substance abuse and dependency.
